About My Practice

I am a dedicated learning disabilities interventionist specializing in helping children overcome challenges with reading, written expression, spelling, and handwriting. With extensive training in evidence-based instruction, I work with children who have difficulties with the written word — including dyslexia, dysgraphia, and other issues with reading and writing.

My approach is individualized, compassionate, and focused on building both skills and confidence. I believe every child has the potential to succeed when given the right support and tools.

Working closely with families and schools, I create comprehensive support plans that address each child’s unique needs and learning style.

My Mission

Every child deserves to experience the joy of reading and writing. Through specialized, compassionate intervention, I help children build the skills and confidence to reach their full potential.

Meet Sami

A learning interventionist whose personal and professional journeys converge in service of struggling readers and writers.

Professional Background

After three decades in the tech industry, Sami has found her life’s work: helping struggling readers and writers to overcome academic challenges and reach their full potential. Her transition from technology professional to learning interventionist reflects both her professional history and deeply personal experience.

Education & Training

Sami is currently pursuing certification as an Academic Language and Dyslexia Therapist through the Rawson-Saunders Institute in Austin, building on graduate-level coursework in learning disabilities intervention. She holds a B.A. in English and completed graduate work in medieval literature at the University of Louisiana. Before entering tech, she taught college-level English literature, composition, and technical writing.

Experience & Expertise

For the past three years, Sami has provided specialized one-on-one and small-group instruction in reading readiness, early literacy, reading fluency, comprehension, handwriting, and written expression — with particular expertise in dyslexia and dysgraphia interventions.

Personal Journey

Sami’s passion for this work stems from her journey as a parent. Two of her children were twice-exceptional — intellectually gifted while navigating multiple learning disabilities including dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and ADHD. These experiences give her profound understanding of the challenges families face and an unwavering commitment to compassionate guidance.

Memberships & Interests

Sami is a member of the Academic Language Therapy Association and the International Dyslexia Association. When not working with students, she can be found reading voraciously, playing classical piano, indulging in video games, preparing homestyle Cajun food, and spending time with family and friends.
